Lincolnshire Caistor lath back splat back Windsor rocking chair WS 61
This chair came from the same auction and the same house as WS 62; there are so many features that are common with the spindle-backed Caistor chairs and this one that there is every chance it was made in the same town. Also I did not realise until I got it home that there are initials stamped on the rear of the seat: 'CM'. A quick search of Dr B D Cotton's The English Regional Chair (1990) reveals a chairmaking apprentice Charles Maddison working in Caistor - intriguing.
